During the decade plus that TrueSchool has worked with educators, we have developed best-in-class materials for student-centered design! We are now open-sourcing these resources for educators everywhere!
TrueSchool Toolkits
A comprehensive set of toolkits for facilitating the four stages of our unique student-centered design process. Each includes guidance for an in-person Studio and independent Fieldwork.
TRUESCHOOL TOOLKIT VOLUME 1: SET VISION + BUILD EMPATHY
Studio 1 – Set Vision: Set a big, bold vision for student success grounded in existing resources available on-site, and the school’s identity.
Fieldwork 1 – Build Empathy: Explore stakeholder perspective to build understanding of the current learning experience by interviewing, shadowing, and observing students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
TRUESCHOOL TOOLKIT VOLUME 2: DEFINE OPPORTUNITY + PROTOTYPE
Studio 2 – Define Opportunity: Define the opportunity for a transformative new model of student learning, rooted in student perspective and inspired by cases of innovative schools that have led powerful change.
Fieldwork 2 – Prototype: Create and test prototypes of the new model in at least two classrooms to gather student and stakeholder feedback for rapid improvement.
TRUESCHOOL TOOLKIT VOLUME 3: MEASURE IMPACT + PILOT
Studio 3 – Measure Impact: Measure and analyze the impact of the prototype on student learning, using a more rigorous approach designed by the team.
Fieldwork 3 – Pilot: Design & launch a broader, multi-classroom pilot of the innovative model.
TRUESCHOOL TOOLKIT VOLUME 4: LEAD CHANGE + LEARN FORWARD
Studio 4 – Lead Change: Capture learning from the pilot & plan for building buy-in and distributed leadership for sustainable, scalable change.
Fieldwork 4 – Learn Forward: Share learning school-wide and beyond; apply the TrueSchool Design Process to new opportunities and contexts.
