“I have now learned specific tools I can use, from the overall problem/solution design process, to help others participate in the process, as well as to evaluate elements of the solution design both before and during implementation.”
-Keith Dumbleton, Teacher at George Westinghouse College Prep
The focus of Sprint is to prototype solutions that solve the validated problem. We continue to work with educators through a design process; building, testing, and refining solutions based on student feedback and initial, formative data. In this phase, we learn to leverage existing resources and rapidly test low-stakes solutions for the purposes of “failing forward fast”—we’re eager to create a safe space among educators in which we share challenges and learn as much from what doesn’t work as what does. At the conclusion of Sprint, school teams have produced a design opportunity and tested prototypes in multiple classrooms.
Sprint develops the following TrueSchool core knowledge, practices, and mindsets for education innovation:
KNOWLEDGE
- Design prototypes
- Determine formative data
- Iterate and repeat
PRACTICES
- Prototype to make ideas tangible
- Rapidly gather feedback + data
- Iterate the model
MINDSETS
- Actualize a vision by taking a big goal and breaking it down into specific actions
- Leverage existing resources and assets
- Take risks, fail forward fast
