PROBLEM

Build communication between home and school to improve student learning outcomes.

HOW MIGHT WE

How might we improve communication with families so they are better informed about their students’ education and can join as partners for their students’ further learning?

SOLUTION

Teachers offered more than one student conference with the support of a school outreach worker. Formerly, only one conference was held annually in the month of November. We engaged teachers to try out the additional conference approach. Three teachers participated in this pilot. The school outreach worker invested the teachers in the pilot by sharing the intention and offering her support to schedule and facilitate.

INTENDED OUTCOME

To improve the academic achievement of our students. Students break the cycle of poverty and violence in their
community.

IMPACT

Students continue with a higher education (college or trade school) and move on to have the career of their choice, gain prosperity and wealth.
