PROBLEM
Students are not always engaged in their development and growth.
HOW MIGHT WE…
Address various student skill gaps and strengths to drive transformational student growth/learning by leveraging data, flex time, human capital (parents involvement, church leaders, community leaders, student, athletic coaches, etc.), student profiles (interests, what engages them, etc.), advisory lessons and advisory time, peer-to-peer mentoring, and student-teacher relationships?
SOLUTION
The Foundations team investigated how to foster individualized learning, academic success, and personal growth. Their prototype institutes “Flex Time”: student/advisor time which gives students the chance to work on an activity of their choice with the targeted guidance of a teacher. The goal of this time is to increase student buy in and engagement with their education in order to build independent working skills and address individual needs by fostering each student’s interests.
