PROBLEM

Teachers lack collaborative planning time to share ideas and best practices across classrooms, grade levels, and the staff as a whole. 50% of students are not meeting or exceeding grade level expectations on NWEA.

HOW MIGHT WE…

Restructure the school day to allow for additional professional development and collaborative planning for teachers at all grade levels.

SOLUTION

In partnership with Teach Plus, Bronzeville built capacity of two teacher leaders to design and lead professional development specifically targeted towards our teachers’ needs. The teacher leaders identified areas of growth and led a 5 session series on practices to enable cross-team collaboration as well as sessions on personalizing learning i.e. small group instruction  and unpacking the Common Core State Standards.
