PROBLEM

Current, isolated professional development models are having limited impact on instruction and confidence and expertise level in math and science.

SOLUTION

Creating a professional learning culture within our school for teachers to receive in house professional development from their fellow teachers.

IMPACT

The feedback from teachers indicated that not only feel more confident in planning and delivering math/ science instruction, but in co- planning abilities and designing interdisciplinary units.

“Our team went into the design process thinking that our focus would be solely on student engagement. However, we realized that a bigger need that was serving as an obstacle to that goal was building and supporting teacher teams that were able to collaborate and build trust.  This became the foundation for our work, with the student experience at the core of this supported collaboration. This helped us to better define the roles of our coaches while providing support to both teachers and students.” –Budlong team
