PROBLEM

Engagement is a problem for our school because of lack of planning time/execution time, teacher confidence/knowledge, and previous culture of the school.

SOLUTION

The implementation of a one to one model in a seventh grade reading class utilizing the ThinkCerca program.

IMPACT

Increased student engagement based on a teacher-created rubric and digital literacy skills among students.

“The teacher used a Learner Profile to identify strengths of students and how they learn best. As a result of these profiles, the teacher was able to cater to individual student needs. One high performing student communicated that learning through tech was something she was not comfortable with on a regular basis. The teacher began providing the same materials and information for this student to support her learning needs. The teacher implementing the one to one model took risks throughout this process and his colleagues started to do the same.” –Irving Park team
