PROBLEM

Student achievement and student attainment is the core problem we face a 3rd year Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) Turnaround School.

SOLUTION

Marquette “Links Learning to Life” to educate and inspire students and families with a focus on the future to transform their lives; while igniting drive and curiousity.

IMPACT

Attendance, behavior for tier 3 students enrolled in the program, and overall school-wide attendance improved.

“Our Extended Learning Opportunities Programming during the 2014-2015 school year offered alternative pathways to learn and engage in their school environment for our most at-risk youth and their families.  Traditionally, extended learning consisted on after-school tutoring, sports and homework club.  Our most at-risk students were sent to academic support programming, which is was perceived as punitive from a student perspective.  When we used student and family voice without limit to guide decision making without looking at the academic data, we were able to create phenomenal robust programming services students and their families.” –Marquette team
