PROBLEM STATEMENT

5th-8th grade students need a way to expand their skills and understanding in order to become more prepared for future transitions.

HOW MIGHT WE…

Expand 5th-8th grade students’ skills/understandings in order to ensure that they develop transferrable and adaptive skills by leveraging peer and adult support networks?

SOLUTION

We are mentoring program for their 5^th grade students that took place during school hours. This mentoring program allows students to choose which session to attend and fosters relationships between 5^th grade students and 6^th through 8^th grade teachers in order to promote students’ feeling of teacher support to ease the challenging transition from 5^th grade into middle school.
